bin2cpp

Please note that bin2cpp source code is now moved to GitHub. Source code can be downloaded from the project’s GitHub page.

bin2cpp is a command line tool for embedding small files (like images, icons or raw data files) into a C++ executable.

It’s main features are:

  • Easily converts small files as C++ source code for embedding into a C++ executable.
  • Content extraction supported by a unique function call for each embedded file.
  • Supports a multiple embedded files at once.
  • Makes it harder for resource hacker to modify or steal the embedded files.
  • No third party libraries required for retrieving the data of the embedded files.

bin2cpp is not implemented using executable resources. Instead, bin2cpp creates multiple function calls for retrieving the data which makes it harder to steal the executable’s content. It also makes it even harder to replace an existing resource of the executable.

I have been working on multiple projects since I bought my camera. Most of them are related to super telephoto shots, macrophotography. Other requires a very long exposures or even a bulb exposure modes.

For all these kind of photography, camera shake is your greatest enemy. You really need to reduce the shaking to a minimum. The first element I bought to reduce camera shake was a tripod but that wasn’t enough. When pressing the shutter button, a light shake was induced by my fingers and that would sometime ruin the image.

I recently bought an Avistar Elite .46 ARF by Great Planes for flying with a flight instructor at my local hobby club. Before we went to the club and start flying, he and I (mostly he) made some adjustments to the plane for getting the perfect trainer for me. Basically, I changed some settings to get better results from the stock options.

Here are all the modifications that I did to make this trainer the perfect plane.

Introduction

At the beginning of the 2014 season, I decided to join a local RC club to get to know good experienced people that would give me advices on the best practices for flying. I also decided to find a flight instructor that would assist me and help me with all the technical details that I am still lacking. When we met, he strongly suggested that I leave the Hobby Zone Super Cub behind and get to a wooden motorized trainer plane like the Avistar Elite .46 ARF by Great Planes, which I did.

The Good

After 1½ month of flying the plane, I was feeling a little more confident and I trusted enough myself for doing loops. So at the end of the 2013 season, I went flying with a friend with my Super Cub LP. I wasn’t expecting any disaster…

It was a little cloudy & windy but I went flying anyway because I was too much confident that nothing could happen since I had 6-7 flights of experience!

During summer 2013, I have found myself with a high interest in flying an RC plane. I didn’t know what to expect from this but I wanted to get a new toy to play with. Like everyone, I thought that flying a plane was not that hard and that I could easily manage to fly any kind of plane. I was wrong. During my search for the best plane, I learned about the Hobby Zone Super Cub LP RTF which I think is a really good plane for a beginner.

Shooting a waterfall with a DSLR camera is not that hard. As usual in photography, you need a lot a patience. The perfect picture is all about managing a long exposure of the waterfall. This will get you a nice look as if the waterfall would be a silk river. In this guide, I will explain how I managed to get this picture of the “Chute du Diable”.

Context

During summer 2014, I went camping with my family to Mont-Tremblant and as always, I have brought my camera with me. I was lucky enough to bring all my camera gears since I was not expecting that I would have to use almost all of them to get a nice picture of a waterfall.
