For those interested, here is the first sequence of images I captured with my Canon EOS SL1 in order to make a timelapse video of the unpacking of the aircraft RC Avistar Elite .46.

At the time, I didn’t know the basic principles that were required to capture good pictures for a timelapse video. So I proceeded with the exact opposite of what was required: Auto Focus, auto exposure adjustment, automatic white balance, use of the flash and capture with low batteries. In short, I was a beginner.

Pour les intéressés, voici la première séquence d’images que j’ai capturé avec ma Canon EOS SL1 dans le but de faire un vidéo timelapse du déballage de l’avion téléguidée Avistar Elite .46.

À l’époque, je ne connaissais pas les principes de base afin de faire de bonne prises pour faire un vidéo timelapse. J’ai donc procédé en faisant tout le contraire de ce qu’il faut faire: Focus automatique, ajustement de l’exposition automatique, balance des blancs automatique, activer le flash et débuter la séance avec des piles déchargées. Bref, j’étais débutant.

Introduction

I recently bought an Avistar Elite .46 ARF by Great Planes for flying with a flight instructor at my local hobby club. Before we went to the club and start flying, he and I (mostly he) made some adjustments to the plane for getting the perfect trainer for me. Basically, I changed some settings to get better results from the stock options.

Here are all the modifications that I did to make this trainer the perfect plane.

Introduction

At the beginning of the 2014 season, I decided to join a local RC club to get to know good experienced people that would give me advices on the best practices for flying. I also decided to find a flight instructor that would assist me and help me with all the technical details that I am still lacking. When we met, he strongly suggested that I leave the Hobby Zone Super Cub behind and get to a wooden motorized trainer plane like the Avistar Elite .46 ARF by Great Planes, which I did.
