Pendant le début du mois de juillet, j’ai décidé de me lancer dans la photographie macro. Ce que j’ai découvert durant cette expérience est étonnant.

Comme tout le monde, j’ai naturellement décidé d’utiliser les fleurs comme sujet. Quoi de mieux que le mois de juillet, où les fleurs sont belles et épanouies, pour essayer de faire de la photographie.

Je suis donc parti à la recherche de fleurs avec mon appareil, mon trépied ainsi que des tubes d’extension (21mm).

Getting a nice firework picture is it not as simple as going outside, finding a firework display and starting to shoot bits of lights in the sky. There are things you can do to increase your chances of success or fine tune the end result.

Introduction

I have been working on multiple projects since I bought my camera. Most of them are related to super telephoto shots, macrophotography. Other requires a very long exposures or even a bulb exposure modes.

For all these kind of photography, camera shake is your greatest enemy. You really need to reduce the shaking to a minimum. The first element I bought to reduce camera shake was a tripod but that wasn’t enough. When pressing the shutter button, a light shake was induced by my fingers and that would sometime ruin the image.

Shooting a waterfall with a DSLR camera is not that hard. As usual in photography, you need a lot a patience. The perfect picture is all about managing a long exposure of the waterfall. This will get you a nice look as if the waterfall would be a silk river. In this guide, I will explain how I managed to get this picture of the “Chute du Diable”.

Context

During summer 2014, I went camping with my family to Mont-Tremblant and as always, I have brought my camera with me. I was lucky enough to bring all my camera gears since I was not expecting that I would have to use almost all of them to get a nice picture of a waterfall.

Ce que j’attends de la photographie? Je ne sais pas vraiment. C’est un passe-temps après tout, mais au fil du temps, j’ai réussi à réfléchir à des choses agréable à photographier. La plupart d’entre elles sont des défis techniques, mais certains d’entre elles ont un niveau de difficulté géographique. D’autres ne sont possibles que pendant une période spécifique de l’année.

What I expect from photography? I don’t really know. It’s a hobby after all but over time I managed to think about cool things I would like to shoot. Most of them are technical challenges but some of them have a geographical difficulty level. Others are only possible during a specific period of the year.

I recently started this hobby but I had an interest in photography since a long time but never pursued this hobby because I always tough that good photography skills were not achievable or simply because you need a lot of gears that are expensive. Unfortunately, I changed my mind and rediscovered photography.

Misconceptions

I always had high expectations about what a good camera should do and one of them was quick shooting in continuous mode (read 10-15fps). That feature was handy when you shoot moving objects or when you go to a water park because it allows you to freeze the action. (I tough high fps in continuous mode means a higher shutter speed)
